A Being of Sound Body

C 2016 Wayne Perry

Regardless of where we grew up, or went to school, somewhere along the way I think almost all of us got the program - usually from a primary school teacher - that our bodies are made up of about 75% water and 25% solids, much like our earth. As students, most of us probably accepted our teacher’s statement as scientific fact without investigating it much further.

And, it is partially true.

But now, with our modern technology and scientific research, we know differently. We’ve become aware that there is no such thing as “solids” as we once thought. All matter is energy in a state of vibration. Consequently, matter is made up of sound frequencies. Our bodies are actually made of 100% sound. Let me explain further:

Energy, sound, frequency and vibration are basically facets of the same principle. Vibration is simply the primary nature of energy. Everything that vibrates emits a sound, whether or not it falls within our human hearing range. And the measurement of this sound is referred to as frequency, based upon how “frequent” the vibrations vibrate.

Frequency rates are measured in hertz (Hz), which indicate the number of cycles per second (cps) at which a particular frequency vibrates. Our normal hearing ranges from about 16 Hz to around 20,000 Hz. Dogs have twice the hearing range of humans - up to 40,000 Hz. Bats around 80,000 Hz. Dolphins and Orcas have the highest hearing capacity - over 150,000 Hz - around eight to ten times higher than humans!

So, what is the significance of this information with regards to sound therapy and healing?

Well, modern physics research shows us that the form and density of ALL matter is determined by its frequency. Now, let us go back to our “sound body”: Our bones and teeth consist of energy vibrating at very slow and low frequencies - so they have the most defined physical form and density within the body. Our muscles, ligaments, organs, etc., are vibrating at faster and higher frequency rates - so they have a more malleable form, and less density.

Then there are our fluids - blood and water, which vibrate at much faster and higher rates of frequency, and in turn, have a much less defined form, and considerably less density. For example, our body fluids are amorphous and their form determined by our skin and body structure. For example, if we were to pour a pitcher of water on the floor, we couldn’t predict the precise form that it would take- perhaps a puddle, or two, or maybe a string of droplets. And, in terms of density, we can easily put our hand through water.

These examples relate only to the physical body. However, we are more than just a “sack of chemicals”. We also have an emotional body that is rooted in our astral body. A mental body rooted in the causal body. And, an etheric or soul body rooted in Spirit.

This illustrates that our bodies are literally walking “symphonies of sound”. And what’s more, no two people are alike. Everyone has their own comprehensive matrix of sounds that make up their particular bodies, and emits their own unique frequency pattern.

The current and most effective forms of sound therapy understand and factor in this important information for effective diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. For example, a diagnostic voice analysis by a trained sound therapist can assess brain wave patterns and interpret one’s personal vibratory signature. This data is significant for implementing the most appropriate and specific therapeutic applications of corrective sound therapy.

This healing process is two-fold, both passive and active: The passive part is simply listening to the notes, tones and sounds that support and stimulate the brain to eventually produce its own dormant or missing frequencies to effect healing. The most effective sounds being (1) vocally produced harmonics and overtones and (2) sounds determined to be weak or deficient in the voice/brain by voice analysis. The process occurs naturally through the brain wave entrainment created by the repetition of the appropriate sounds. This principle can be easily understood by observing how some songs stick in our heads after repeated listening.

The active part of sound therapy involves using one’s voice for toning release work. Vocal toning is simply using the voice in a healing, yet non-musical manner, to relax, release, regenerate and move energy through the body using specific pitches, tones and vowel sounds. This process is usually most effective under the guidance of a trained and qualified sound therapist.

With this organic and fun healing modality, anyone can become a being of sound body.
